WATCH: Pensions Lecture #4: ‘From the tax tribunals’ and ‘Pensions trustee companies: an update after Lehtimäki’

Watch or listen to our latest series of lectures by pension law practitioners on current topics of particular interest. Wilberforce has a well-established reputation in the field of pensions law, due in large part to the late Edward Nugee QC, to whose memory these lectures are dedicated.

This webinar is divided into two talks. The first talk is ‘From the tax tribunals’, delivered by Emily Campbell, and covering:

  • SIPPchoice and contributions in specie
  • Hymanson and mistaken contributions
  • Bella Figura, discovery assessments and waiver of the scheme sanction charge
  • Gammell v HMRC and late applications for transitional protection
  • A thread of principle: reasonable taxpayer excuse?

The second talk is ‘Pensions trustee companies: an update after Lehtimäki [2020] UKSC 33′, delivered by Robert Ham QC and David Pollard, covering:

  • What did the Supreme Court decide?
  • Courts giving directions to fiduciaries after Lehtimäki?
  • Impact on pension trustee companies?
  • Impact on directors of trustee companies?

Paul Newman QC will chair this webinar.
